Vibrant and varied nightlife
Nightlife in Northern Ireland, especially in the main cities, now caters for every musical taste from jazz to hip hop, dance music to line dancing, funk to traditional Irish music as well as garage and techno. The queues start early into the dance clubs in Belfast’s atmospheric city centre and Cathedral Quarter, where the DJ's and the legendary Belfast ‘buzz’ match any European dance club.
For those looking for an easier pace or some culture then there’s still much on offer with West End shows at the local theatres, all the best Hollywood blockbusters and successful independent movies on at the many multi-screened cinemas and excellent museums and galleries.
A Victorian listed building, The Grand Opera House
in the heart of Belfast, is probably Northern Ireland’s best-known theatre. Opened in 1895, the theatre plays host to world-famous companies and offers the very best in live theatrical performances, entertainment to satisfy all tastes and ages.
It has recently undergone a major £9 million redevelopment that has increased space for the public and performers, improved access for people with disabilities, and enhanced front-of-house facilities.
